Creating a profile: Once opted in, users can create a separate dating profile. This profile is distinct from their regular Facebook profile and is not visible to their Facebook friends unless they specifically choose to share it.

Setting preferences: Users can set preferences for potential matches, including things like age range, distance, gender identity, and other criteria.

Matching: Facebook Dating uses the information from users’ profiles, such as their interests, events they’ve attended, groups they’re part of, and other data points to match them with potential dates. It also suggests matches based on mutual friends, which is intended to add a layer of trust to the matching process.

Communication: If two users mutually like each other, they are notified of the match and can start communicating through the messaging feature within the Facebook Dating interface. This messaging is separate from regular Facebook Messenger.
